Diplomat by day, conqueror by night, La Tsarine eau de parfum is based upon the life of Russian empress, Catherine the Great, but specifically her extravagant and mysterious life, and her apocryphal sexual appetites. This is a bold and uncompromising perfume. Sexual, animalic with immensely beautiful dry-down.
There is no subtle playfulness to La Tsarine. The top notes reveal the viscous sweetness of honey, contrasted with cumin. The sticky greens of blackcurrant buds and clary sage add to the air of sensuousness. The Perfumer assembles three floral notes, which are known to spark the sense of arousal: the indolic trio of tuberose, narcissus and jasmine - an explosion of animalic floralcy.
The dry down is a doubled up on animalics, where we encounter civet, costus, castoreum, oakmoss and musk.
Taken all together, La Tsarine is unapologetically erotic.
